Black Jack's highest priority is the health and safety of our members, staff and community. We understand that this ski season will be different from previous years because of COVID-19. The Board of Directors and staff at Black Jack are committed to finding solutions to enable a safe and enjoyable ski season for our members and community.
Black Jack will be operating our trails, facilities and programs this season following the guidelines of the government and health authorities. These guidelines are constantly evolving and we will update our policies as necessary.
We feel very fortunate to be able to operate our trails, facilities and programs this season although slightly differently. We recognize that being able to participate in Nordic skiing is important for our healthy active outdoor lifestyles. We will get through this together.
Kiosk
Black Jack is implementing the following precautions at the kiosk:
-Only staff or volunteers are allowed to enter the kiosk.
-Memberships must be purchased online at Zone4.ca and picked up at the kiosk after opening day.
-Plexiglass will divide the skier from the staff
-Kiosk staff will perform additional cleaning duties for the kiosk, outhouses and rental sheds
-Rental equipment will be cleaned between uses.
-Staff and visitors who are renting equipment will be required to wear face coverings when physical distancing is not possible.
Outhouses
Outhouses at the trailhead will remain open and will be cleaned regularly as per provincial protocols and stocked with hand sanitizer.
Cabins
The trailhead cabin will remain closed this season. If a small group within the same bubble wish to use the cabin, they can contact the kiosk who will have a key.
Torrenson's and Gibbard's cabins will remain unlocked as mandated by Recreation Sites and Trails, BC. We recommend that their use be for emergency shelter only. If you need to enter a cabin, please wear a face covering. There will be alcohol wipes provided for cleaning before and after cabin use. The outhouses will also remain unlocked and for use at your own risk.
COVID-19 Agreements
For all individuals and activities, if you choose to participate you must follow these rules:
-Complete the COVID Self- Assessment on a daily basis (see below)
Wear a mask in any indoor space.
-Bring your own equipment, water bottle and hand sanitizer.
-Comply with physical distancing measures at all times.
-Avoid physical contact with others including shaking hands, high fives, etc.
-Leave Black Jack Ski Club as soon as you finish your activities.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please stay home and get assessed for a COVID-19 test, and self-isolate for at least 10 days.

COVID-19 Refund/Credit Policies
Prior to Opening Day
In the sad possibility that Black Jack is required to shut down prior to opening day due to COVID-related concerns, registered members can choose to either receive a credit toward their 2021-22 membership fees OR receive a refund for the value of their 2020-21 membership fees.
After Opening Day
If Black Jack is required to shut down after opening day due to COVID-related concerns, we will issue registered members the following pro-rated credits to be used toward the 2021-22 season:
If the trails are closed on or before December 31, 2020, members will receive a credit for 50% of the value of membership fees paid.
If the trails are closed between January 1 and January 31, 2021, members will receive a credit for 25% of the value of membership fees paid.
If the trails are closed between February 1 and February 15, 2021, members will receive a credit for 10% of the value of membership fees paid.

For all other considerations, the Club's standard refund policy will apply: Membership fees are non-refundable except in special circumstances when approved by the Black Jack Nordic Ski Club Board of Directors.
